Mitnick Editorial Policy / Opinion
Mike Hudack Editor-in-Chief

Earlier today, OSAll received e-mail challenging an article about Kevin Mitnick archived on the site (/culture/Mitnick/mitnick.html). In response, OSAll would like to once again clarify our archiving policies and our editorial policy towards Kevin Mitnick.
First of all, all articles written for and published on OSAll at any time (which now encompasses almost seven or eight months) is mantained and archived, generally unedited. This means that any old articles about Mitnick or anything else where editorial policy has changed will remain unchanged, regardless.
OSAll editorial policy states that we will always state our opinion about Kevin Mitnick and his case in future articles. That opinion is that he has been punished enough for his crimes and that he should be released now without further ado. Unfortunately the government doesn´t see it that way and we must do everything possible to help Mitnick, including displaying the Free Kevin sticker (it was removed from the OSAll site for bandwidth considerations).
OSAll does not wish to address specific aspects of the Mitnick case in this article or others, as such schemantics only serve to intensify the debate and cloud the major point: that he has been punished enough for whatever he may have done -- even if he did all he has been accused of.
So, if you find an old article on OSAll -- or something that doesn´t seem to be right at all, just e-mail editor@aviary-mag.com for the status of the article. From now on, all articles will be dated, but for obvious reasons, we can´t do this with previous articles. |
