Working Group Works on Software
John Arbuckle OSAll Staff
President Clinton established a working group for Internet crime this month and they have recently began their operations. The group says they are focusing on software and technology for the investigation of Internet and electronic crime, with a focus on successfull prosecution and prevention.
The focus of the group doesn´t only include the standard security issues one may expect. Also on the docket are sale of guns, drugs and illegal pornography.
The group has already begun working with the FBI for the development of software and technology. The FBI´s Baltimore office is working on software to automate their trolling in chat rooms for illegal discussion. One FBI agent says "it gets very difficult to sit around in these chat rooms. A system to monitor the discussion would make it much easier."
Previously FBI agents would sit in chat rooms and begin conversations with suspected pedophiles. If the suspects wished to set up a face-to-face meeting the FBI would bust them.
