"Y2k, all hype, all the time."

Cyber warfare is becoming the mainstream, now...  The Yugoslavians spent hours doing lame DoS attacks on American and NATO web servers, trying to keep their propaganda machines out of commission.  Now, NATO is striking back with its own DoS attack -- they're going to pull the plug on Yugoslavian Internet access.

Because of an EU & NATO embargo on all technology and monetary exchanges with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, businesses will be forced to sever all ties with FRY companies.

NATO is expected to pull the plug any day now.  The problem is not the embargo, however -- the problem is information.  The best way, historically, to fight an oppressive government has been through information.  The printing press was one of the most effective weapons against tyranny -- and the Internet will be the next.

Up until tomorrow or the next day, anyone with a computer, a modem and a half-decent phone line could deciminate information around the world from the FRY.  No longer.

The problem is, however, that NATO can't make exceptions for anything -- including a weapon used to fight the FRY.  Embargoes cannot be enforced selectively.
