Maximum Security is often considered one of the best books about the computer security field -- the securing end, that is. We have to agree, although it may not be the best one. Problem is that it only covers things briefly then gives links to stuff on the Net. More original content would be nice -- but even heftier. |

A great computer security textbook (for experts only!)-- used by colleges around the country (and probably the world) for security curricula. Itīs published by the famous Prentice Hall we probably all remember from math class or the like. Definately a great, technical book. |

The subtitle is Network Security Beyond the Firewall, and thatīs exactly what itīs about. As we all know, firewalls are ocasionally pierced (by the way, firewalls are not made of fire -- theyīre to contain fire), and thatīs where this book comes in. Itīs an intermediate softcover with everything from security product reviews to authentication and access control explanations. |
